This is a test announcement. It is only a test announcement. If it were a real announcement, it would be announcing something.
FAQ
I’m a prospective student. Where do I look?
If you are a complete beginner in French, you may register for any 101 A1.1 class.
For new students with experience in French, or students returning after more than 1 year away from the AFDC, please submit a placement test (adults or kids & teens) before signing up for an online account if you do not already have one.
How do I create an account?
You must have an email address and be 18 years or older to create an account.
If you are registering a child for an activity, please create your own account and add your child to your profile.
To create an account:
In the upper right corner of any page, click on Login, then Sign Up. You will be prompted to provide your information.
Click Create Account. From the same upper right corner, click on My Profile.
You can then add family members under Membership Information --> Family Members.
I’m a former student/member of AFDC. Do I have an account?
We are migrated members from our old system in phases. If you logged into our old system (Active Net) within the past year, you should already have an account on our new system that contains your membership, your more recent classes and/or your skill level (placement test level).
Please contact alliance@francedc.org if you see an error with your account. However, please note you do not need to contact us to add your previous course information.
I forgot my password. What should I do?
In the upper right corner of any page, click on Log in, then Forgot Password.
Enter your email, where a password reset link will be sent.
What can I do from my online account?
Your account allows you to register for activities such as classes, camps, children's events, library events, exams, certifications, and open houses. You can also purchase memberships, donate to AFDC, or purchase gift cards. From your profile, you can also view your class and events schedules, modify your personal information, add/modify family members, change your password, and access your payments history.
How many accounts should each family have?
Each family should have one, primary account. Create an account in the family member’s name who is responsible for payment.
Please add kids & teens to this primary account as a family member under My Profile --> Membership Information --> Family Members --> Add a Member.
You will be required to enter the birthdate of any family member under the age of 18.
Repeat the process for each family member/friend/relative you add.
In our old system with Active Net, children could be designated as “Head of Household”. This is no longer possible.
Why is my class and membership history missing and/or incomplete?
Class history entered starting in Fall 2015 will be available in the new website. For other class history records, please contact the main office.
Membership history is only available from December 2015 onwards. The date that appears corresponds to the date your membership was transferred into the new system. However, your expiration date should be correct if your membership is still active.
To find your membership expiration date, sign in, click on your name in the upper right corner of any page, go to My Profile, and check under Membership Information.
If there is any problem, please contact our main office at 202-234-7911 or alliance@francedc.org.
How do I see schedule details for a specific class or camp?
Some courses require a placement test and can only be accessed if you have tested in the correct level. If you have not already taken one, please start the placement tests for adults or kids & teens. Please note you must be logged in for the placement test results to show.
The Academic Director or the Children’s Programs Manager will send you a follow up email once you or your kid or teen has completed to the placement test process. You will then be able to register for classes at your indicated level. Should you feel your level is not accurate, please contact us at 202-234-7911 or alliance@francedc.org.
Please note: Language levels are valid for 1 year if you do not take a class at AFDC.
What happens if I register for an activity that is full?
You won’t be able to register for a course that is full, but you can add your name to the waiting list. If a space opens for that activity or additional sessions are added, you will likely be contacted first by phone and later by email. If we are unable to reach you, your space will be given to the next person on the waiting list.
Please note: placement on a waiting list does not guarantee a spot.
How do I register my children in classes?
Select the kid or teen from the dropdown menu in the course registration page. Please note only classes that are available at your kid or teen’s level of French will show.
For first-time registrations, the system will prompt you to purchase a membership. If you are registering only one person, you can choose an Individual Membership. If you are registering for more than one person, you can choose a Family Membership or take advantage of one of our premium memberships (hyperlink).
How do I know if my membership is still valid?
Click on your name in the upper right corner of any page.
Click on My Profile.
Your membership status and expiration date are under Membership Information.
How do I purchase event tickets?
Registration in children events and library events is available by clicking the respective links.
Registration for adult cultural programming is on EventBrite and cannot be done from your account.
