The Alliance Française is the largest and oldest network of French language and cultural centers in the world. Founded in 1883 in Paris, the Alliance Française has grown to 850 chapters dedicated to promoting French language and francophone culture and fostering relationships between people of all nationalities, ethnicities, and backgrounds. While 136 countries boast at least one city with an Alliance Française, the US is home to 114 chapters, making it the largest and most diverse in the network.
The Alliance Française has been a Washington, DC institution since 1905, welcoming adults, teens, and children to experience the joys of French and francophone language and cultures.
