My French is synonymous with West Africa, but in Senegal and Mali, I faced one major frustration: European French. I tried hard to keep up with the talk but was always left wondering what I missed. Back in Washington, I was determined to continue my way forward in French. That's when I returned to the AFDC with the principal objective of improving my listening comprehension. With help from French podcasts, RFI, TV5Monde, and YouTube, the classes at the Alliance gave me the structure to achieve a certain level of fluency and fluidity. It is a never-ending pleasure of effort.
